Imphal, November 03 2008: Apropos to the news item titled, 'Great escape' published in the October 3 issue of this paper, the SSP of Imphal East police has refuted the report maintaining that there was no escape of any arrested PULF cadres from the custody of Jiribam police station as reported.

The Jiribam police has also clarified that there is no question of any arrested PULF cadre escaping from their custody.

Explaining the turn of events, SDPO of Jiribam police informed that on handing over three persons by the 22 Artillery, the Army clarified that one of them was innocent.

The police and Army wanted to hand him over to his family members, but the man on being told that he was innocent left the place on his own.

The released man is identified as Md Dulan (20) alias Altaf Hussain son of Nuruddin of Monbung village, Jiribam.
