Imphal, June 30: Large areas of Tamenglong district have come under attack from pests.

Millions of grasshoppers have been attacking standing crops particularly paddy thereby causing havoc.

According to information received from the district administration, the huge influx of pests has been causing havoc to standing crops but the exact extent of the damage cannot be confirmed as yet.

Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong district Devesh Debal informed that the District Agriculture Officer has been entrusted to inspect and make an estimate of the damage done by the swarming pests so far.
