Imphal, May 30 2016 :
A discussion programme on "Naga Literature and Creative
Writing in English" was held May 28 at Mt Pisgah College in
the presence of renowned Nagaland writer Easterine Kire, win-
ner of The Hindu Prize 2015.
Jointly organised by Tahpu Foundation, Hills Hornbill
Express and Senapati District Debating Society, the pro-
gramme was participated by 200 delegates.
Dr Easterine Kire said, "Many people have this miscon-
ception about Naga literature and say that it is still very
young.
However, Naga literature has been there since the
settlements of our forefathers in various villages."
Naga literature in terms of fictions, essays, folktales,
short stories, biographies, poems and songs may not always
be totally academic, philosophical, historical, political which
in a way is different from the other scholarly volumes but
one will find inclusion of all the above.
Naga literature is
unique because we have a unique society, she added.
