Imphal, January 21 2009:
WITH STRONG condemnation and expressing suspicion of state terrorism in the detention of Elangbam Toto, advisor of the Hiro Hito Track Suit, Keishamthong on January 17 last, the Human Rights Initiative demanded institution of judicial inquiry today.
The incident is a blunt example of the impunity that could get scot free anytime no matter what human rights violations committed by the perpetrators.
The incident is clear evidence that some state actors are involve in making money taking advantage of the insurgency issue in Manipur that is talking about over the last few years, the statement of the HRN said.
The government authority should institute a judicial inquiry into the incident as a part of respect of the human rights under article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
