Imphal, February 24: Unidentified persons gunned down one Maisnam Bijoy (25) son of Romon of Jiribam Babukhan at about 7 pm yesterday near his home at about 14 kms north east of Jiribam PS.

According to sources, Bijoy was at his maternal uncle's residence when about five masked men confronted him and tried to drag him out of the house.

On his refusal, the masked men reportedly hit him with the butt of the weapon and shot him at the chin area with the bullet penetrating through the top of the forehead.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem at the Jiribam CHC today.
