Imphal, May 06: An employee of the State's Power Department had been crushed to death while another sustained injuries after a power-line pole fell and hit them during restoration work of a high tension power line at Mayang Imphal Bengoon area today.

Power lines in Mayang Imphal areas were damaged/snapped following a powerful windstorm that swept in parts of the State on May 3 night.

The incident reportedly took place at around 12 noon when the process of power poles restoration and line stringing works were being carried out.

The deceased has been identified as Phiyam Nobo (52) s/o (L) Mani of Charangpat and the injured as one Nongthombam Ibohal (55) s/o N Chaoba of Thoubal Sabaltongba.

Ibohal is undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital with a fractured arm.

Both are posted in Transmission Construction Division-I, Lamphelpat.

According to sources, the poles re-erection works were initially completed yesterday and both were atop a pole while fell down.
