National Library Week held
Pravabati college in collaboration with MALA conducted National Library Week on Nov 19 at the college indoor stadium with vice chairman L Tomba Singh and Principal Th Chaoba Singh as chief guest and president respectively.
Dr.Th Khomdon Singh, MU librarian (consultant) and MALA president K Chaoba Singh spoke on the theme "Role of library in the present era" as resource persons.
PIC Moirang condoles
Public Information Centre (youth center cum library) Moirang Lamkhai has deeply condoled the passing away of Heigrujam Ibomcha, Executive Member on November 16 after a prolonged illness.
The members paid homage and observed a 2 minute silence in memory of the departed soul.
The members also shared the loss and grief of the bereaved family.
Five-day disaster management training concludes
A five-day disaster management training held under the aegis of Keirak Makha Social Welfare Club (KMSWC) from November 16 concluded today at Keirak Dam Maning community hall, a statement informed.
Md Ajub Khan, staff officer, relief and disaster management, Md Seroj Ahamad, Headmaster, Keirak UJB School and Md Muniruddin graced the closing event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Youth festival ends
The 29th Manipur University Inter-College Youth Festival, 2015 came to an end today.
The valedictory function was held at Centenary Hall, MU.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof HNK Sarma, VC, MU exuded confidence that the festival provides enlightenment to the students in different fields.
Student bodies appeal
The All Manipur Student's Union (AMSU), District Committee, MSF, Jiribam Special Branch, DESAM, Local Council and KSA, Jiri Branch has jointly appealed the State Government to bring an amicable solution to the dual agitation at Jiribam Higher Secondary School.
Orientation prog ends
The five-day orientation programme for elementary school teachers on teaching of mathematics and sciences concluded today at EduSat Hall, DMC campus.
A total of 30 elementary school teachers took part in the programme.
The valedictory function was attended by S Anandi, Joint Director of SCERT, RK Shashiranjan, lecturer, DIET among others.
UTLA/UTLF clarifies
UTLA/UTLF has clarified that the reported gun fight which took place in Tamenglong district on Nov 19 was among the UTLA/KNO cadres and UTLA/UTLF was not involved in the incident.
In a statement, SK Thadou, chairman of UTLA/UTLF said the outfit never involved in any violence since it entered the tripartite agreement in 2013 .
Medical camp
Tamei Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division organized a medical camp at Buning village on Nov 15.According to a statement issued by PIB (Defence Wing), Imphal, 54 people of different age groups including women and children from Buning and Kabonram villages received medical consultation, treatment and free medicines during the camp.
Pre-recruitment rally
A pre recruitment rally is being organised by 4 Assam of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) to train the aspiring youth.
The pre-recruitment rally will continue for another three weeks at Moltuk.
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), a total of 25 candidates appeared for the pre-recruitment rally.
Seminar held
Asia Japanese Academy, Japan and Centre for Japanese Language Studies, Imphal organised a seminar cum counselling at Manipur Press Club today.
DG, AJA, Fukuoka, Japam, Tsukamota Katsumi, Director of Language Cell, AJA, Dharmaraj Adhikari and principal, CJS, Imphal, Irungbam Mangan attended the programme as the dais members.
KSO Moreh
KSO, Moreh has announced students' curfew at Moreh from 5 pm to 6 am.
According to the KSO, the step has been taken up to control students and encouraged them to focus more on their studies.
