Waqf Board Chairman appeals

Imphal, August 01 2026:
The Chairman of the Waqf Board Manipur has called for voluntary resignation of two non-Muslim members of the board.
This, after the Waqf Board held a meeting on August 22 in response to concerns raised by civil society organisations representing the Meitei Pangal community regarding the appointment of two non-Muslims in the board.
While the matter regarding the composition of the 8th Waqf Board Manipur is pending before the Court, Waqf Board Chairman Y Antas Khan in a statement said a resolution has been taken to appeal to the Chief Minister to ensure voluntary resignation of the two non-Muslim members.
