Imphal, August 23 2026:
The body of a newborn baby which was recovered from Arong River near Athokpam Dam in Thoubal on August 12 will be disposed of if no claim is received after 48 hours, said Thoubal police.
The police said the newborn baby was found dead floating in the Arong River in the morning of August 12, and was deposited at JNIMS mortuary for postmortem and identification.
Any person claiming to be parents, relatives or otherwise entitled to receive the dead body of the newborn may approach the Thoubal police station within 48 hours.
