Imphal, September 15 2026: As many as 108 muster roll and contractual staff of the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) staged a cease-work strike today over the non-payment of wages for nine months and the failure to issue orders extending their services.

According to reports received by The Sangai Express, the protest was withdrawn after the agitating staff met with the Mayor of the Corporation.

The staff agreed to resume their duties from tomorrow.

However, owing to the cease-work strike, garbage was seen piling up at various locations, including Nagamapal, Khwairamband Keithel and Paona Keithel, causing serious inconvenience to the public.
