Imphal, June 12 2017:
The State Election Commission has started due preparations for the next Zilla Parishad and Panchayat polls.
The State Election Commission has already drawn a tentative schedule of the polls and the same has been forwarded to the State Government for due approval, informed a well placed source.
Notably, the term of the incumbent Zilla Parishads and Panchayats would expire in October this year.
Once the Government gives its approval to the tentative schedule, the election notification may be issued any time.
It is reported that preparations for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat elections would take around two months and a half, informed the source.
