Imphal, July 07 2024: A 34 year old woman was crushed to death under the wheel of a water tanker in front of Congress Bhavan on BT Road at around 7 pm today.

The deceased was riding pillion on a motorcycle (Royal Enfield) and she has been identified as Laishram Mamata (34), d/o Joykumar of Liwa Road Naorem Leikai under Singjamei police station.

She was taken to Raj Medicity.

The driver of the water tanker has been arrested by City police.

Lembo Heisnam (25), the person who drove the motorcycle sustained a minor injury in the mishap.

A case has been registered at City police station.

It is reported that Mamata was a widow.

State forensic experts have carried out an inquest at the site of the accident.
