Imphal, May 03 2016: A hand grenade lobbed by some unidentified persons exploded just off the verandah of one Ngangom Nilachandra (50) of Irengbam Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district under Nambol police station at around 9.30 last night.

Although some portions were damaged by the blast, there was no report of human casualty.

Nilachandra was a driver by profession but he retired sometime back due to health problems.

It is reported that a KCP faction left a demand letter of Rs 10 lakh at his residential gate on February 18 this year.

Meanwhile, local womenfolk staged a protest demonstration today at Irengbam Makha Leikai community hall today against the grenade attack.
