Imphal, January 29 2017:
It is still uncertain whether Gaidon Kamei, president of the United Naga Council (UNC), who is currently in jail, will be present at the tripartite talk scheduled for February 3 at New Delhi.
According to a source, it is still too early to tell if he will be able to take part in the tripartite talk, as he is still in jail, although the UNC has demanded that he lead the UNC team.
The State Government has also informed the Home Ministry that Gaidon's participation in the talk depends on the Court's decision, the source added.
The Court had earlier ruled that Gaidon may participate in the talk on January 23, when the State Government had proposed Imphal as the talk venue.
Gaidon Kamei will be produced before the Court on February 4 .
The source pointed out that the State Government will decide, tomorrow, the officials who will constitute the team to be led by Additional Chief Secretary Suresh Babu which will represent the State Government in the talk.
Satyendra Garg of the North East Division may step in for the Union Home Ministry in the talk, it added.
It can be pointed out that in November last year, the Manipur High Court had notified the authorities concerned to clear the National Highways to ease the suffering of the people due to the economic blockade.
