Further NIA remand for KNF(MC) man

One active member of Kuki National Front-Military council (KNF-MC) has been further remanded in the custody of NIA Imphal Branch for four more days in connection with the killing of two CRPF personnel and injuring two others at Naranseina Maning on April 27, 2024 .
Thongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi Haokip alias Roger (38) s/o late Holkhasei of Malhoi (S), Churachandpur was produced before the Court by NIA, Manipur through video conferencing today.
A Special PP, NIA submitted that the accused was accompanied by about 18 or more militant cadres who attacked the CRPF camp at Naranseina.
As such, examination of Thongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi Haokip alias Roger to find the details and particulars of the accomplices and to unearth many more material and digital evidence are of paramount importance to bring the investigation of the case to a logical conclusion, the Special PP said before praying the Court to remand the accused in NIA custody for four more days.
On the other hand, the defence counsel of the accused submitted that there is no necessity for obtaining police custody in the present case as the accused has already been questioned and also submitted that during questioning by the concerned IO of the NIA, Manipur, the signature of the accused was forcibly taken in blank papers.
Further, the case pending with NIA Court, Delhi is also related to the incident of alleged attack at Naranseina on April 27, 2024 .
The accused is being arrested again and again relating to the same incident and also submitted that in case police custody is granted, he may be allowed to be present during interrogation, the defence counsel submitted.
The Special PP NIA in reply submitted that the case in Delhi is related to an FIR which was registered in the year 2023 whereas the present FIR case was registered in connection with the attack at Naranseina on April 27, /2024 in which two CRPF personnel were killed.
The present case is not connected with the case of Delhi, the Special PP said.
The Court, after hearing the Special PP NIA and the defence counsel remanded the accused in police custody till October 31 .
The Court also directed the IO to provide required medical treatment to the accused during the period of custody and produce him in Court on October 31 .
