Update NRC, facilitate free movement: Senior citizens

Senior citizens from Uripok area have submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla laying down their demands for updation of NRC, accountability for killings, tackling deforestation, removal of Kuki SoO camps and securing free movement along the National Highways.
It is worth noting that the memorandum was signed by the senior citizens during a sit-in protest held on April 19 organised by the Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup at Uripok Canteen Corner.
Another copy of the memorandum was also handed over to the Governor to be submitted to the President.
In the memorandum, the Uripok senior citizens have urged Governor Bhalla to direct the concerned authorities to (i) update the National Register of Citizen (NRC) at the earliest possible time in the State of Manipur before holding census exercise; (ii) take up all essential measures to arrest the culprits who are involved in the killing of innocent civilians in Manipur since May 3,2023 and punish them in accordance with law within a stipulated period, (iii) take up immediate measures to prevent deforestation in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, expedite the investigation and submit charge sheet against the persons involved in narcotic drug related crimes, (iv) remove all the camps of Kuki-militants who are in Suspension of Operations (SOS) with the State and Central Government from the adjoining valley areas, (v) deploy State Forces like State Police, Manipur Rifles (MR), Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) in the sensitive Meitei villages neighbouring Kuki villages and (vi) provide adequate security measures so as to enable the people of Meitei community to travel freely on the National Highways and provide security personnel for the Tangkhul community on the Imphal-Ukhrul Highway.
The senior citizens of Uripok have urged the Governor to act on their demands at the earliest in the largest interest of the indigenous peace-loving people of Manipur.
