Imphal, September 27: A combined force comprising of Ccpur local police, 14th Bn CRPF and Ist IRB personnel arrested a person and seized Rs.36,100 in fake currencies from his possession at Lanva area, about three kilometres to the south of CCpur PS around 8:30 am this morning, police sources said.

The fake currencies comprised of 72 Nos of Rs 500 notes and one number of Rs 100 note.

Sources said that the combined forces led by SP/CCpur LD Lhatoo IPS were on their way back from conducting a search operation around Misao Lhahvom and Lanva areas this morning when they came across a man moving in a suspicious manner at Lanva.

On frisking the person, the fake currencies were recovered, it said.

The arrested person, identified as Jamkhanpau alias Jampau, 32, s/o Tualkhopau, presently residing at Lanva village is presently under police custody and he may be produced before the court tomorrow.

A preliminary investigation revealed that he is getting the fake currency notes from a person in Nambol, one source added.

A case is being registered in the CCpur police.

CDSU fixes new fare for Ccpur-Moreh; impasse continues: In a new twist to the impasse regarding fares of buses plying from Lamka to Moreh, the Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) today issued a release saying that the fare has now been fixed at Rs 105 per head for a one way trip and urged that regular transport be resumed from today itself.

It may be mentioned that all the five passenger buses have stopped plying between Lamka and Moreh since August 29 this year due to dispute over the fare increase.

The CDSU said that apart from the regular fare, business persons will be charged Rs 10 extra as line entry fee and luggage charges may be also be levied accordingly.

When contacted by The Sangai Express, some bus owners however expressed deep resentment of the manner in which the CDSU tried to browbeat the bus owners.

They said that they had come down from their original demand of Rs 130 per head to Rs 110 now, and claimed that most transporters also agree to Rs 110 fare.

It is difficult to understand how the students� body still insist on Rs 105, they said.
