Govt monitoring Dzuko issue: CM

Imphal, May 27 2015 : Maintaining that the State Government is closely monitoring the issue of land encroachment by a Nagaland based organisation at Dzuko valley, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that the Government would deploy security forces at the area if need arises.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a district level Congress workers' conference held at Motbung as part of the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebration of Dr BR Ambedkar.

Saying that the State Government would never allow any organisation to encroach upon the land of Manipur or divert the course of any river to Nagaland, the Chief Minister said that the matter has been seriously looked into.

He also lauded the people of Mao for protecting the land of Manipur from being encroached by the people of Nagaland.

The Chief Minister assured Mao people that he would do the needful not to lose even an inch of land of Manipur at Dzuko valley.

He said that people must not fight for land as every man is mortal and everybody would leave behind their land or property when he/she dies.

Speaking at the political conference, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that the matter is an inter-State boundary issue, as such it needs Centre's intervention.

He said that the State Government has been constantly keeping in tough with Nagaland Government to resolve the issue.

At this juncture, no political party must make illogical statements on the issue.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and many of his Cabinet Ministers are set to address an election rally of Congress to be hosted by Saikot MLA TN Haokip at Tuibuong Peace Ground on May 29 at 11 am, reports our Churachandpur Correspondent.

A statement issued by Saikot Kendra Congress Committee said that the rally is intended to reach out to the masses irrespective of different political affiliations.

The rally would revamp trust between the political party and people, he said.

He invited village chiefs, headmen, intellectuals, social activists, Church leaders, voters and all right thinking citizens to attend the rally.

He also called on all sections of the society to refrain from calling or imposing bandhs on the day.

Meanwhile, the Lok Janashakti Party will conduct a public meeting for Ginkhozam, its lone candidate in the district at Zogal hall tomorrow.

Among others, State LJP president Thangkhangin Ngaihte will address the gathering.
