Although the Central Dairy Plant at Porompat has the total capacity of storing 10,000 litres of milk daily, it is presently supplying only 1,200 litres of milk , and thus not being able to meet the demand of the people, due to difficulty faced in collection of the milk being produced from various localities of the State.
With the main objective of solving this difficulty to some extend, a Milk Chilling Plant has been set up at Oinam in Bishnupur District under the Centrally funded Incentive Dairy Development Programme.
It is said that out of the total quantity of 1,200 litres of milk stored at Central Dairy Plant, the CRPF Group Centre at Langjing has requested for supplying 350 to 400 litres of milk every day.
