Kargil Vijay Diwas observed across State to honour fallen heroes

Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed widely across the State today to honour the valiant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation during the Kargil War of 1999 .
SENAPATI
In a heartfelt tribute to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War of 1999, the District Administration of Senapati, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat Senapati and District Youth Affairs and Sports, Senapati observed Kargil Diwas at the DC Conference Hall, Senapati.
The solemn occasion, commemorated the glorious victory of 1999, when Indian soldiers, braving snow-clad peaks and relentless enemy fire, recaptured the heights of Kargil with unmatched courage and determination.
The event served as a reminder of national unity, honouring the sacrifices made by the armed forces in defence of the country.
During the programme, W Paulina Monsang, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat, Senapati emphasized the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas as a symbol of valour, sacrifice, and national pride.
She urged the youth to uphold the spirit of patriotism and remain committed to protecting the legacy of those who gave their lives for the nation.
AS Nganingkhui, Youth Officer, DYASO, Senapati also in his speech highlighted the heroic tale of Late K Ashuli, Vir Chakra awardee (Posthumous) from the district, who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil conflict.
The programme also featured candle lighting and floral tributes led by Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, to honour the martyrs of the Kargil War.
A constitutional pledge was administered to reaffirm national commitment and unity.
The programmes conclude with words of gratitude by P S John Longkhaye, DYASO, Senapati.
The programme was attended by Sheveine, MCS, AC to DC, Senapati, S.Plim Reikheinamai, MCS, AC to DC, DLOs and NSS Student Volunteers of St Xavier College.
KAMJONG
The Kamjong District administration commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas today at DC Kamjong Camp Office, 2nd MR Complex.
ADC/ADM Kamjong HL Jain and various department heads attended the event to celebrate the victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War.
ADC/ADM HL Jain while observing the significance of this day, asserted that Indian armed forces defeated and forced the Pakistani intruders to withdraw to their side of LOC inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy.
"It marks the glorious victory of 1999, Kargil War, when our soldiers, braving snow-clad peaks and reclaimed the height of Kargil with unmatched courage and unwavering resolve", he said.
He also emphasised that this anniversary is not just an occasion on the calendar but is a stirring reminder to salute our soldiers who made supreme sacrifice to defend our nation, territorial integrity and its people.
KAKCHING
In a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation, the NSS Units and IQAC of Kakching Khunou College observed Kargil Diwas at the college's Sivananda Memorial Hall.
The programme aimed to instill a spirit of patriotism and nationalism among students.
As part of the observance, a quiz competition focusing on nationalist leaders and the Indian National Movement was organised, drawing active participation from the student community.
The event was graced by O Binoy Singh, principal of Kakching Khunou College as the chief guest, N Nipamacha Singh, Assistant Professor as president and M Iboyaima Singh, Academic in-charge as the guest of honour.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of quiz competition by the chief guest and president, adding a note of encouragement and appreciation to the academic initiative.
CHURACHANDPUR
The District Administration of Churachandpur solemnly observed Kargil Vijay Diwas today at the Conference Hall, DC Office, Mini Secretariat, Tuibong, in remembrance of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War.

Deputy Commissioner, Dharun Kumar S, paid heartfelt tributes to the Indian Armed Forces for their unwavering service in defending the nation, both in the past and present.
He said that he District Administration is very privileged to be graced with the presence of the family member of Kargil Martyr Sepoy Zamkholal Vaiphei, who made the ultimate sacrifice by laying down his life for the country on June 28, 1999.During this troubled times in our state let us remember that our Armed Forces can teach us about the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
It represents mini India by having representation from all cultures and all comers of India and despite this diversity they all work together to defend and unite India.
We shall continue to remember the sacrifices of our Kargil Martyrs, he added.
Brigadier P Subramanian, DIG 27 Sector Assam Rifles who also attended the function highlighted that the contributions of the Armed Forces are not only felt during war but are equally vital in preserving peace.
He reiterated the need to observe days like Kargil Vijay Diwas.
During the program, DC Churachandpur, felicitated the martyr's family of Late Sepoy Zamkholal Vaiphei.
Prakhar Pandey IPS, SP Churachandpur, Col (retd) NG Sitlhou, President of Ex-Servicemen Association, Churachandpur, civil and police officials also attended the function.
Assam Rifles honours Kargil War heroes
Assam Rifles marked Kargil Vijay Diwas with a series of coordinated events across Chandel, Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Ukhrul and Kakching Districts of Manipur honouring the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
The celebrations were thoughtfully planned to foster patriotic spirit and enhance community engagement.
The day began with community flag hoisting and the singing of the National Anthem at Sehlon village, Khangbaro School, Joupi and Assam Rifles Public School, Kakching.
Villagers, students and Assam Rifles personnel gathered to pay tribute to the fallen heroes.
Several creative artistic sessions were conducted including essay and drawing competitions and a poster campaign.
Local school students were encouraged to express their thoughts both in writing and through art on the theme of bravery and valour of the Indian Armed Forces during the war and battles.
A Tree Plantation Drive was held with great enthusiasm under the heartfelt theme "Ek Paudha Ek Pran - Deshbhakton ko Samarpan" .
The event honoured the valour and sacrifice of India's brave soldiers while emphasising the importance of a clean and green environment.
Each sapling planted symbolised a living tribute to a fallen hero, blending patriotism with environmental responsibility.
At Kakching, a spirited Cycle Rally was organised for the enthusiastic students of Assam Rifles Public School.
The young participants rode with pride and purpose, commemorating the occasion and paying homage to India's valiant war heroes with unwavering zeal and patriotic passion.
A coordinated programme brought veterans and their families from Sugnu and nearby villages to Sugnu for a commemorative gathering.
The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and tributes to the bravery and sacrifices of India's soldiers.
As part of the commemorations for Kargil Vijay Diwas, Assam Rifles organised a Veterans Meet at Modi village, Chandel today.
The gathering was dedicated to paying sincere tribute to the veterans and war heroes of the Kargil War, recognising their courageous and selfless service to the nation.
At Tengnoupal Government High School and Kwatha village, several activities including a Vijay Run, Cleanliness Drive and a friendly volleyball match involving Assam Rifles personnel engaged over 130 students and staff.
In Moreh, Assam Rifles conducted various sessions for nearly 100 Girl NCC cadets at Eklavya Model Residential School.
Another inspirational event in Moreh featured a walkathon from T Minou to Haolenphai followed by an address by Assam Rifles officials highlighting the bravery of soldiers in the war.
The occasion concluded with a special screening of a patriotic movie at Adulam Centre which drew enthusiastic participation from 100 villagers and local youth.
As part of the coordinated celebrations, a drawing competition was organised at St George School, Moreh, where 100 students showcased their artistic talents on themes such as "Bravery of Indian Soldiers" and "My India My Pride" These concerted efforts by Assam Rifles reaffirm its dedication not only to honour the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces but also to awaken a sense of camaraderie and national pride among youth and civilians, fostering a keen interest in serving the nation, said the IGAR (S) .
