Ahmedabad, July 26:
Sixteen blasts rocked Ahmedabad killing 18 and injuring over 100 people on Saturday evening.
The first blast took place in Bapunagar at 6:45 pm.
The blasts took place in Maninagar, Sarkhej, Isanpur, Bapunagar and Haksar.
Maninagar being Gujarat CM Narendra Modi's constituency.
The blast in Sarkhej took place in CNG bus.
Blasts also took place in Naroda Patiya, Govindvadi, Thakkar Nagar and Jawahar Chowk.
The bombs were planted on cycles in crowded market places and tiffin boxes.
According to reports a woman said that in Maninagar area she saw a boy in black shirt was on a cycle with tiffin tied to it, the blast took place minutes after he left.
Police have rushed to the affected spots and and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been called in.
However, there is no confirmation on the kind of explosion.
Paramilitary forces have been deployed in most of the sensitive areas in Ahmedabad.
The blasts have taken place primarily in eastern part of Ahmedabad, which are upper middle class dominated residential areas.
Security agencies have been put on high alert and mobile phones blocked.
Ahmedabad railway station has also been sealed.
They are trying to figure out if there are more bombs like in the case of Bangalore blasts.
These blasts have taken place exactly a day after eight low intensity serial blasts in Bangalore.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil have condemned the serial blasts.
''Very terrible and the perpetrators are bent upon creating communal divide,'' said Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Minister, PMO.
''Please don't politicise this tragic incident.
Whatever is needed we will provide.
President had said that time has come that we need a Central Disaster agency.
It is needed but States need to come out together for this,'' said Shakil Ahmad, Home MoS.
The Minister of State for home said that all metros have been put on high alert.
