Bishnupur sand society seeks Govt intervention

Bishnupur, May 26 2024:
Accusing some sand trading unions of the State of causing problems to the members of Bishnupur District Unemployed Sand Seller Co-operative Society Ltd in bringing in sand from Dimapur, the Society has sought the attention of the concerned authority on the matter.
Addressing a press briefing at the office of Bishnupur District Unemployed Sand Seller Co-operative Society Ltd yesterday, president Laishram Budha stated that many unemployed youth and elderly people in Bishnupur are engaged in sand trading/ selling as a means of livelihood.
Unfortunately, some sand unions are disrupting the Society's transportation of sand from Dimapur to Manipur and causing issues to the Society members, he claimed.
Additionally, he alleged that money was extorted from their truck drivers without issuing any receipt.
Denouncing such untenable acts, Laishram Budha also urged the authorities from the relevant department to look into the matter and resolve the situation.
The press conference was also attended by Y Tarunkumar, secretary; Kh Nabachandra, treasurer and other members of Bishnupur District Unemployed Sand Seller Co-operative Society Ltd.
