Imphal, September 25 2025:
In a significant development, BRIC-Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (BRIC-IBSD), Imphal, has announced the successful completion of official demarcation of 11.465 acres of land adjacent to its existing campus in Imphal.
With this demarcation, administrative procedures pending since the land's initial allotment by the State Government have been resolved, said a press release issued by Dr W Mohendro Singh, Senior Administrative Officer, BRIC-IBSD, Imphal.
The demarcation was accomplished in coordination with officials from the Revenue Department.
According to the statement, the institute currently operates from 2.3525 hectares under CS Dag No 566, Village No 93, Takyel Khongbal, Manipur.
Since commencing operations in 2003, IBSD has functioned within infrastructure originally constructed by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur, and provided on lease arrangements.
While functional, the existing facilities were not specifically designed for advanced biotechnology research requirements and presented space and structural constraints for contemporary scientific activities, it added.
The newly demarcated land acquisition will address these infrastructure limitations and provide the foundation for establishing purpose-built research facilities which will enhance IBSD's capacity to conduct cutting-edge research in bioresources and sustainable development.
Concurrently, the institute has also engaged all institutional stakeholders including researchers, staff, and students in implementing the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign.
As part of the campaign, which will run from September 17 to October 2, the institute has conducted campus cleaning operations, waste management protocols, and eco-friendly practices including plastic reduction and community outreach through SafaiMitra program coordination.
