Imphal, September 25 2024: Mongbung Meitei village in Jiribam has become the new hotbed as Kuki militants continued to rain bullets on the settlement today.

Sources said well armed Kuki militants launched the attack using sophisticated weapons at around 7 pm.

Even as security forces retaliated and returned fire, reinforcement teams have been rushed to the spot.

While there has been no report of any casualties, intermittent firing was on till the time of filing this report.

Kuki militants have launched multiple attacks on Mongbung Meitei village in the past.

The attacks usually come at night time, and these are being seen as an attempt to stoke violence and tension in the area.

The last assault on the Meitei village occurred on the night of September 20 .

The Kuki militants then attacked the village at around 9 pm from multiple fronts, and the gunfight continued throughout the night.

The scale of the attack and the use of bombs had then forced villagers to flee and take shelter at safer locations.
