Imphal, June 25 2024:
Movement of POL and LPG TTs with CRPF escorts have resumed normal movement on NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway) from Monday.
After 229 POL and LPG TTs which were stranded for several days at Jiribam and beyond reached Imphal on Saturday, convoys of empty TTs started moving from Imphal on a regular basis since yesterday.
Even though 229 loaded oil tankers and LPG bullets reached Imphal on Saturday, stock positions of petrol and diesel at the IOCL's Malom depot and LPG at the Sekmai bottling plant have not improved much.
With petrol, diesel and LPG stocks still quite low, the fuel is being distributed to the public under a rationing system, sources informed.
At present, one truck load of LPG refills is shared between two distributors, said the sources.
A letter written by the CAF&PD Joint Secretary on June 22 asked the IOCL's State Level Coordinator not to release more than 150 Kls of diesel, 150 Kls of petrol from the Malom depot and 15 truck loads of LPG refills from the Sekmai bottling plant in a day until there is regular movement of POL and LPG TTs on NH 37 and the stock positions improve.
The same letter directed that oil pumps should keep 4 Kls of petrol and 4 Kls of diesel in their stocks.
The instruction given on June 22 is still in force, said the sources.
Earlier when there was enough volume of fuel in stock, Malom Depot used to release 300 Kls of petrol and 350 Kls of diesel in a day.
With the volume of fuels released in a day now slashed to almost half, both petrol and diesel are not available readily and in sufficient quantities, the sources added.
