Koireng-led UNLF highlights prerequisites for victory

Imphal, November 23 2025: Extending warm greetings to all countrymen and solidarity to all internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the alleged Indian sponsored Kuki aggression against the indigenous people, particularly Meiteis, the Koireng-led UNLF has highlighted three prerequisite conditions for the National liberation struggle of Manipur to be victorious.

The National liberation struggle for the restoration of Manipur's sovereignty and independence has crossed six decades.

It is, therefore, only natural that people here and there are questioning why there are no visible signs of success of the liberation struggle, and if at all it will be successful, the Koireng-led UNLF remarked in a statement issued by its Central Committee on the occasion of the party's 61st raising day.

It reiterated the outfit's views and understanding, published 20 years ago, with regard to why the liberation struggle is taking so long and what are the prerequisite conditions for the victory of the liberation struggle.

For the National liberation struggle of Manipur to be victorious, three main conditions, sine qua non, are required.

First, the united strength of Manipur (also the united front of the liberation struggles of WESEA).

Second, the beginning of disintegration of India from within as a result of sharpening of the inherent contradictions and the intensity of these contradictions becoming antagonistic will determine the pace of India's disintegration.

Third, growing isolation of India at the international level because of its inconsistent foreign policies, and the emergence of favourable conditions for 'our National liberation struggle'.

In order to build internal unity, the secondary internal contradictions, particularly ethnic contradictions, having direct bearing on building internal unity are required to be resolved satisfactorily so that the entire people of Manipur can take a collective stand for the liberation struggle, the Central Committee asserted.

One factor that has all along been a drawback in building internal unity is the political contradiction that emerged ever since the indigenous communities in the hills of Manipur embraced the Nagaidentity and joined the Naga movement for an independent Nagaland (now Nagalim to the NSCN-IM) during the period 1946-64.The essence of this political contradiction is the status quo of Naga inhabited areas in Manipur State (which has been an internationally recognized sovereign and independent Kingdom for centuries) on the one hand, and the outlook of the NSCN-IM taking the Naga inhabited areas in Assam, Arunachal and Manipur being parts of Nagalim on the other.

The complex nature of this political contradiction calls for astute statesmanship and political wisdom among the stakeholders.

The outfit has all along believed and worked accordingly, from a wider perspective of WESEA, that the National liberation struggle of Manipur to restore its sovereignty and independence and the Naga struggle to establish an independent Nagaland/Nagalim must make common cause against the common adversary, it said.

India's brutal colonial method of "divide and destroy" to suppress the national struggles of WESEA is pushing these struggles towards unity.

This is historically inevitable, it said.

India's internal contradictions, inherent in its birth but remained almost dormant, have sharpened suddenly to become antagonistic, ever since BJP/ RSS captured power in 2014 .

These contradictions -Dravidian South vs Aryan North; Hindu-Muslim communal contradiction; the rise of Bengali nationalism against Gujarati domination; re-intema-tionalisation of Kashmir Issue by China's move twice in UN Security Council; and the rise of oppressed and exploited classes against the ruling clique of Gujarati capitalists - these contradictions becoming antagonistic indicates the beginning of the inevitable disintegration of India from within, read the statement.

This in a way, is the hastening of the historical inevitability of India's disintegration by the religious and communal agenda of BJP/RSS, it claimed.

As soon as the BJP/RSS captured power in Delhi, a sudden shift in India's foreign policy became manifest.

Some examples - distancing from the time-tested friendly relationship with Russia and elevating relationship with the US almost to the level of a military alliance thereby provoking Russia to supply fighter jets and military hardware to Pakistan; India, one of the long-time champions for the cause of Palestine, veered away to become a close partner of Israel in defence productions and other areas.

As a result, India faced subtle isolation from staunch supporters of Palestine among Arab countries.

India's crisis management to address the confusion in foreign policy has generated more mistrust than clearing the confusion.

In short, today's India is looked down upon as being not trustworthy in the international community, particularly by its neighbours.

This scenario has created more space for super power China whom India considers to be a rival in the race for power.

Though far-fetched, this has all the potential for becoming a favourable factor in the liberation struggles of WESEA, it said.

"Also the developments in our neighbourhood are indicators of a favourable situation for our national liberation struggle", the Central Committee said.

All along, India's colonial policy to suppress the National struggle of Manipur has been, first, to alter the demography of Manipur by allowing massive influx of illegal immigrants.

Today, the number of illegal immigrants must have crossed 8 lakh and they have outnumbered the population of Nagas as well as the Kukis.

The situation is very close for the inhabitants of Manipur becoming refugees in their own land.

This is, in a way, burying the natives alive.

"Along with the demographic invasion, India has been using their soft power and various means to dilute our national character, identity, and our values.

In the process of every election, so-called festival of democracy, our voters have been degraded to commodities for sale and buying.

This is the picture of a Nation debased under the colonial rule of India", it alleged.

However, the latest strategy of Indian colonial rule is to create a violent conflict situation wherein the Meiteis are forced to remain within the limits of the plain area.

To this end the Govt of India is using illegal immigrant Kuki armed groups against the Meiteis, at the same time injecting a hostile atmosphere between Meiteis and Nagas, and last but not the least unleashing a hate campaign between Meiteis and Meitei Pangals to pin down the Meiteis from all directions.

For this campaign, the Government of India brought in a large number of Kuki armed groups from Myanmar and the offensive against Manipur State began on May 3, 2023 .

Initially the offensive was taken to be a 'Kuki aggression'.

Ultimately, however, the truth exposed itself that the 'Kuki aggression' was actually conceived, designed and sponsored by the Govt of India to give a decisive blow to "our National liberation struggle", it alleged.

Addressing the brave sons and daughters of Manipur who joined the fight against the aggression of India-sponsored illegal immigrant Kuki mercenaries from May 3 2023; the Central Committee said that it is "our bounden duty to save our country and Nation from the clutches of Indian colonial rule; and establish socialism after restoring our sovereignty and independence" .

The Central Committee has also extended warm greetings and revolutionary salute to party cadres, local members, officers and other ranks of MPA, compatriots joining today's celebrations at many locations, and Manipuri diaspora in many parts of the world.

IDPs, those languishing in enemy prisons and those compatriots maimed and handicapped because of torture by Indian armed forces.

It also conveyed revolutionary greetings to the revolutionary parties of Manipur fighting shoulder-to-shoulder and also to the fraternal revolutionary organisations of WESEA, CSOs, Meira Paibis and student organisations.

It paid homage to the departed founding leaders of the party, party cadres, brave revolutionary fighters of Manipur who have made the supreme sacrifice in battlefields, and to all the compatriots who have lost their lives in the brutal repression of Indian armed forces.

Following their footprints and legacies, the UNLF will carry forward the national liberation struggle unwaveringly until final victory is achieved, it added.
