Imphal, June 23 2025:
A 6 days bootcamp training programme on "Assembly of Multicopter Drone" began today at National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal campus in Akampat.
The programme was organised by NIELIT, Imphal in collaboration with Manipur Seva Samiti.
Delivering the keynote address, NIELIT Director Dr A Bablu said that drones have become significantly popular in electronics and IT, particularly in consumer and commercial applications like photography, videography, and delivery services.
He mentioned that a multicopter drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that uses multiple rotors to generate lift and thrust.
"These rotors are typically fixed-pitch, and control is achieved by varying the speed of each rotor.
Multicopters are known for their stability, maneuverability, and ability to hover, making them popular for various applications", he added.
Highlighting that the training programme would cover the practical aspects of building and assembling a multicopter drone, Dr A Bablu said, "This would involve learning about the different components, understanding their functions, and then physically assembling them according to a specific design or instructions" .
Speaking on the occasion as the president, Ulhas Kulkarni, national executive member of RSS, said that drone technology is rapidly expanding across various sectors due to its versatility and ability to perform tasks in challenging environments.
"Drones offer significant advantages in areas like agriculture, surveillance, delivery, disaster relief, and environmental monitoring, among others", he added.
Ulhas Kulkarni also lauded NIELIT for empowering youth of Manipur through various initiatives focused on skill development and capacity building in IT and electronics.
