Ukhrul, April 22 2026: Less than a week after two Tangkhul civilians were killed in an ambush near TM Kasom, a youth from Sinakeithei village was injured in a sniper attack by Kuki militants today at around 4.30 pm .

The injured individual has been identified as Chihanngam Rungsung, s/o Theingasung Rungsung.

Reports suggested that Chihanngam was struck in the left ankle by a sniper's bullet while he was doing personal work in the village.

He was promptly evacuated by the BSF and received first aid from personnel stationed in the village.

According to reliable sources, the injured man will be transferred to Ukhrul District Hospital for further treatment.

Locals have reported that the situation in Sinakeithei village remains tense, as Kuki militants continue to launch intermittent attacks from the upper hill slopes using sophisticated weapons.

Despite the heavy deployment of security forces in the area, villagers are unable to move freely, with their lives constantly at risk.
