Imphal, March 22 2026:
As a part of its movement against carrying out census operations without first identifying illegal immigrants, the Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (CJFD) has launched a poster campaign.
Posters embossed with the slogans "No NRC, No Census", "No IDP Settlement, No Census", "Defer Census until the present crisis is resolved", "No Census amid crisis", "Justice First", "No Free Movement, No Census", "Resolve Present Crisis first, Census After" etc were launched at Khwairamband Keithel today.
Speaking to media persons at the launch of the poster campaign, CJFD convenor Jeetendra Ningomba said that the authorities' ongoing preparation to start house listing as a part of the census exercise is unacceptable.
"CJFD does not oppose the census exercise per se .
We are only asking to carry out the census operations only after identifying illegal immigrants who have settled in the State", he said.
He urged the political leaders to understand the prevailing situation of Manipur and see that the census exercise is deferred.
The political leaders must listen to the people's voice and they must understand that the ongoing movement is for the future of Manipur, Jeetendra asserted.
If census operations are carried out under the prevailing situation of Manipur, the State will face insurmountable challenges in the near future, he warned.
CJFD and the people will fight back in befitting manner if the authorities' choose to carry out census operations forcibly, the CJFD convenor said.
He also appealed to every section of the society to join the movement for identification of illegal immigrants before census operations.
