Advising the office bearers of All Kangleipak Students' Union (AKSU) not to don the mask of student leaders and indulge in collecting money in the name of an outlawed organisation, the United Peoples' Front (UPF)has asked the office bearers of student body to come for a talk.
Speaking to newsmen in the backdrop of the announcement by AKSU that the Thoubal branch of UPF has been sealed, its president Thounaojam Shyamo said that he does not to enter into a verbal duel through the media and instead asked AKSU to come forward for a talk.
Explaining, Shyamo said that for the just concluded Mega Marathon, UPF had sought financial help from the public.
Elaborating the UPF leader said that on February 13 a team of the UPF had gone to the Electricity office at Thoubal to seek assistance for the marathon.
The employees of the department there informed the UPF team that a finance secretary of AKSU, Md Raj a teacher working at the KM Blooming School, Khangabok came to their office and demanded money in the name of an underground outfit.
The finance secretary also claimed that the money is meant for the people displaced due to the stand off between security personnel and an underground outfit at New Samtal area.
Thereafter UPF met the president of AKSU along with Raj Khan and the president had apologised to the UPF, said Shymo.
The president of AKSU is identified as Totomsana of Heirok.
Picking out another discrepancy of AKSU, Shyamo said that the letter head of the student body shows its headquarters as Kangla while in the letter heads used to issue press releases, its headquarters is shown as Minuthong.
PULF man held: Based on specific information, Imphal East District Police Commandos apprehended one activist of the armed outfit PULF from Kshetrigao Awang Leikai during the course of frisking and checking operation conducted there at around 8 am today.
Identifying the arrested PULF activist as one Md Abdul Matauf alias Abocha (27) s/o late Md Salaudin of Keibung Mathak Leikai, SP of Imphal East District L Kailun informed that two Nokia mobile phones have been recovered from the possession of the arrested activist.
On spot verification, Abdul disclosed that he joined the outfit in November this year though one S/S fighting commander Md Sana alias RK of Kshetrigao.
