Uikey directs SA, DG to ensure rule of law

Governor Anusuiya has directed DGP Rajiv Singh and Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh to take up appropriate security measures to restore normalcy in the State.
She (the Governor) was called on by the DGP and the Security Advisor separately today and the prevailing security situation was discussed, said a press statement from Raj Bhavan.
Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh apprised the Governor about the security measures taken up in the State especially in Jiribam.
He informed the Governor that adequate security forces comprising of State and Central security forces have been deployed at many vulnerable places.
The Governor asked the Security Advisor to enforce law and order so as to restore normalcy in the State.
During the meeting, the DGP briefed the Governor about the recent incidents in Jiribam and the follow-up actions taken up by the State police and Central forces.
He also informed the Governor about the security measures taken up to stop any eventuality at any point in time and at any part of the State.
It may be mentioned that a police outpost and a truck were torched at Jiribam and Kangpokpi respectively in the last 24 hours, apart from the firing in Jiribam.
The Governor directed the DGP to take up appropriate security measures to ensure the lives and properties of the people are secured and initiate prompt action against anyone involved in all forms of violence.
She also asked the DGP to beef up the security measures along the National Highways and enable free passage of petroleum products and other goods laden vehicles.
The Governor further directed the DGP to take up necessary security measures in Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, Churachandpur and all the valley districts and extend all possible help to the displaced people in Jiribam district.
Meanwhile, the Governor conveyed her wishes to President Droupadi Murmu on her birthday today.
