Imphal, May 20 2025:
Manipur's integrity is non-negotiable, BJP's North East in-charge Sambit Patra has categorically said today.
Patra made this statement while responding to the Gwaltabi incident today where Central security forces stopped journalists enroute to Shirui Festival in Ukhrul and were forced to conceal "Manipur" written on the bus they were travelling in.
In a video recording released to the media, Patra said the Gwaltabi incident was unfortunate and it happened "because of avoidable misunderstanding" .
He reiterated that Manipur's integrity is non-negotiable to the BJP .
"I would firmly like to reiterate that as far as the integrity of the State of Manipur is concerned, the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, in one of his first press conferences in Manipur, has maintained that integrity of Manipur is something which is non-negotiable, it is something which we always stand for," Patra recalled.
Patra then clarified that the Gwaltabi incident was not a conspiracy.
"To anyone who feels that this is a conspiracy, I on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, would like to assure them that this is not a conspiracy.
Have faith in us," Patra said.
