Imphal, April 20 2026:
Expressing deep sorrow, the All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has strongly condemned the tragic killing of two Tangkhul Naga civilians in the ambush near TM Kasom village in Ukhrul district on April 18 .
In a press release, AMCO has appealed to all Churches, CSOs, and the Christian community, as well as all people of Manipur irrespective of tribe or denomination, to exercise restraint, reject all forms of retaliation, and work together in a spirit of dialogue and reconciliation to pursue a peaceful and amicable resolution.
Sharing heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families, AMCO said it stands in prayerful solidarity with them, holding fast to the promise "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4) .
According to AMCO, such brutal acts of violence violate the sanctity of human life and stands in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Scripture, which calls upon its followers to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9) and warns that "those who take the sword will perish by the sword" (Matthew 26:52) .
Reminding people that every action has its own consequences, AMCO declared that love begets love, hatred begets hatred, and violence begets violence.
Therefore, as followers of Christ, "we must consciously turn away from such paths", advised AMCO.
It has urged all believers not to be led astray by anger or vengeance, but to remain steadfast in the way of Christ, who commands, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44) .
In this critical moment, AMCO has urged the Government to ensure the immediate restoration of law and order, strengthen security measures, and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.
