Imphal to get railway connectivity soon: Joykumar

Imphal, February 20 2025: NPP, Manipur president Y Joykumar has said that the railway network may reach Imphal soon as environmental clearance for Jiribam to Imphal railway line has been issued.

Speaking to the media at his residence at Naoremthong today, Joykumar continued that NPP executives met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla yesterday in the evening.

He said that the Governor's assurance to take strict action against extortionists along the Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Jiribam highways during the meeting is a significant step towards ensuring safety and security in the region.

He said that they also suggested ways to restore normalcy in Manipur to the Governor.

Saying that the security forces intensifying search operations after the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur is a positive step, Joykumar maintained that the presence of armed miscreants is a significant obstacle to holding meaningful political dialogue to end the crisis.

The Governor's assurance to not take action if people surrender their weapons is a welcoming move as this gesture can help to de-escalate tensions and encourage individuals to surrender stolen arms, he said while appealing to those in possession of illegal weapons to surrender them.
