Imphal, June 18 2024:
Even as 74 loaded trucks are on their way to Imphal with an escort party of CRPF, POL (Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants) and LPG tankers are stuck at Jiribam, said sources.
There are at least 101 POL tankers and 46 LPG tankers stuck at Jiribam.
They have cited security concerns as the reason for them not plying the Highway even with the escorts, said sources.
Notably, POL tankers have come under fire from Kuki militants on the Highway in the past.
Yesterday, around 120 loaded trucks including the POL and LPG tankers were on their way to Imphal when Kuki womenfolk blocked the National Higwhay-37 at Taret Khun.
When the POL and LPG tankers returned to Jiribam, 74 loaded trucks were escorted towards Imphal by a CRPF convoy today morning.
The loaded trucks include 44 of FCI, 18 carrying cement, 5 carrying fertilizers, one carrying biscuits, one carrying Gym materials, 3 carrying plastic items and 2 carrying new cars.
Sources said the trucks with the CRPF convoy have crossed Barak River, and will halt the night at Noney before leaving for Imphal tomorrow morning.
