Seven killed in road mishap

Jiribam, September 16 2015:
Seven including a woman died in a road accident at Awangkhul part 2 today while four others, including the driver sustained severe injuries.
While six died on the spot another succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
The mishap occurred at around 1.30 pm today when a Tata Sumo (AS-11BC 7960) carrying 10 passengers from Jiribam towards Imphal fell into a gorge in between tunnel 13 and 14 at Awangkhul.
One of the injured has been identified as Constable Sushil, posted at Jiribam police station.
Personnel of the 6th Sikh Regiment and Coastal Company extended immediate assistance to the injured.
An ambulance for the injured victims was also provided by the Coastal Company.
An ASI posted at Jiribam foreigner check post, identified as Kunjaraj was among the six who died on the spot.
The number of dead are likely to increase as most of the injured are reportedly in critical conditions.
Noney police team led by its OC have taken the bodies to Imphal for post mortem.
