Alleging that the SPF Government maintains illicit relations with underground elements, president of BJP Manipur State Unit Dr Haobam Borbabu has urged for imposition of President's Rule in Manipur so that the forth-coming assembly elections can be held free and fair.
Dr Borbabu and member of BJP national executive and former Union Minister Th Chaoba attended the three day long BJP national executive meeting in Utaranchal which began on September 7.Speaking to The Sangai Express, Dr Borbabu informed that the main agenda of the meeting concerned existing economic and political conditions of the country.
During deliberations on the political issues of Manipur, he urged the central leaders for imposition of President's Rule in the State to ensure free and fair elections as the current SPF Government has close nexus with underground elements.
Conveying that the meeting took serious stock of the ongoing peace talks between the Government of India and NSCN (IM), Borbabu alleged since the Congress led UPA coalition came to power, every peace parley between the Centre and NSCN (IM) has become a source of concern to the people of Manipur.
On the other hand, civil organisations and regional political parties have been shouldering the responsibility to ensure that no compromise is made detrimental to interest of the State, he noted.
Observing that there were people's movement during every peace parley whichnot only impede the growth of BJP Manipur State Unit but also affect the party organisation, Borbabu urged the central leaders to exert pressure on the Union Government to set a time frame of the peace talk or to suspend the protracted peace talk, he conveyed.
Observing that the State administration has totally failed in the hill districts and the law and order has deteriorated to the worst, the meeting also discussed of the terror attack at ISKCON temple, the BJP president stated.
The delegates condemned the attack in the strongest term and observed two minutes' silence to condole the victims, he said.
Borbabu informed that central leaders that the BJP State unit has been working to field 40 to 50 candidates in the assembly elections.
Even though the national executive meeting did not discuss about the impasse within BJP State unit, Borbabu conveyed of the central leaders' assurance to solve the issue ahead of the coming elections.
The central leaders however did not disclose any detail to solve the issue, he added.
