Imphal, August 16 2025:
The Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur (RNCM) has claimed Kuki militants opened fire targeting Naga residents in the Kaiphwndaizaeng village on August 15 .
The Kuki militants' targeted firing on the residents of the village came a day after the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) submitted an application to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla opposing Naga Independence Day celebration at the village, said RNCM.
The provocative action of opposing Naga Independence Day by the apex Kuki body on August 14 and the subsequent militant violence on August 15 were a deliberate attempt to interfere with the cultural and political rights of the Naga people and constituted a direct attack on the community, RNCM said in a notice it issued as a caution against "any hostile actions" .
The two incidents reflect a pattern of provocation and aggression.
The incidents are a serious threat to the safety of the people and cannot be ignored.
If such provocations and violent incidents continue, "we will be compelled to take all necessary protective measures" to ensure survival and security of "our community", it said.
Further hostile actions "will not be tolerated" .
"This notification is issued for official record and may [be] considered as a stem warning against any further hostile actions," RNCM said.
