HSLC 12th position holder emphasizes on development of Govt schools

Lungoulen Lupho, who secured the 12th position in HSLC examination and the second highest rank holder among tribal students of the State was felicitated by Thangkanphai Village Authority and Thangkanphai Youth Club yesterday at the village's community hall .
Born in the poor family of (L) Ngamkholun Lupho and Nemnu Lupho of Thangkanphai village, Saikul as the youngest among the six children, Lungoulen Lupho scripted history in the field of education of Saikul Sub Division (Zilhom area) by securing 12th position in the 2017 HSLC examination .
After his father passed away in 2005, numerous hurdles loomed large over his family which compelled his eldest sister Lhingneichong alias Chochong to shoulder all the burdens of the family .

Lungoulen Lupho resumed his schooling at Eagle School, Imphal till Class III and shifted school at Diamond Sower Academy, Thangkanphai village in class VI, and continued his academic career at Tiny Tots School, Imphal till he scripted record in the annals of Saikul Zilhom education in HSLC examination .
Much to the dismay of the family and particularly Lungoulen Lupho, his sister passed away just before the HSLC examination result declaration .
Speaking at the event, he talked about the education system of the State and his determination to become a civil servant .
Vice Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills Thangjakam Misao, Pastor Thangkanphai Baptist Church Rev L James, Saikul CSOs leader apart from the Thangkanphai villagers, church members attended the felicitation program .
Speaking to media persons, Lungoulen Lupho said, "If I could meet the CM, I would definitely convey my opinion regarding development of the Government schools in the State as the poor and needy people from both the valley and Hills cannot not afford to avail the expensive education provided by the private institution" .
"It will be in the larger interest of the students' community, particularly the poor and needy students, to enhance the Government run schools at par with private schools with respect to various facilities including infrastructures and teaching skills", he added .
Lupho who still restrain himself from using gadgets like mobile phone said that there is one important element that needs to be changed in the mindset of student community in the State, specially from the hills district, and added that the idea of simply passing HSLC without obtaining the basic knowledge and wisdom has reduced the competitive mindset among the student community .
The Millennium Institute of Sciences has offered everything free for the 12th position holder in pursuing his higher studies at their institute and also rewarded him with a cash amount of Rs 2 lakh, reports our correspondent.
