Imphal, October 15 2026: Normal life in the State was severely disrupted today on account of the shutdown called by several insurgent groups in protest against the alleged forceful annexation of Manipur into the Indian Union on October 15, 1949 .

There was little traffic on the roads of Imphal and surrounding areas.

Khwairamband Keithel and all commercial centres remained shut.

Apart from Imphal, all markets in the valley districts remained shut.

Even though Government offices were opened, the attendance was minimal.

All inter-district bus services and other passenger services were suspended for the day.

As there was no passenger, the Inter-State Bus Terminus at Khuman Lampak wore a deserted look, and the inter-State bus service was also suspended.

Schools and colleges were also closed for today.

However, there is no report of any untoward incident.
