TIM states stand on National Highway

Stating that obstruction of highways constitutes a violation of fundamental rights, the Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has appealed to all Thadou people to refrain from any form of mob mobilisation, rioting, or blockade along National Highway-2.TIM issued an advisory regarding the situation on National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur road), reaffirming that the highway belongs to the Government of India and its obstruction constitutes a violation of fundamental rights.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Kuki Zo Council (KZC) have reported no untoward incidents affecting commuters, transportation, or the movement of essential goods along National Highway -2 in the recent past, it said.
Saying that KZC has formally requested the deployment of Central security forces to safeguard the free movement of people and goods on National Highway-2, TIM added that KZC had also appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to Government-deployed security forces during a public meeting held at Kangpokpi on July 29, 2025.Urging members of the Thadou community to refrain from any form of mob mobilisation, rioting, or highway blockade, TIM called upon the Thadou community not to relate rioting and damaging public property with any kind of political stance and avoid being influenced by provocative messages circulating on social media.
Furthermore, TIM reiterated that the United People's Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organization (KNO) have endorsed KZC's position.
The Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement has been renegotiated, and all signatory groups are expected to abide by its terms, avoiding participation in or instigation of highway blockades, it said and appealed to all community members to maintain peace, respect Constitutional principles, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of National Highway-2 for the benefit of all.
TIM further advised Thadou people not to be swayed by propaganda machinery of Kuki extremists that has brought on 'our beautiful land a social calamity' .
