Milan's family refuses to claim body

Imphal, September 12 2012: Expressing suspicion over the death of Maibam Milan, his family has refused to claim the body of the teenager until the official post mortem report is spelt out.

Maibam Milan (15) of Thoubal Leishangthem reportedly committed suicide as the family of his girlfriend was allegedly against their love affair.

Although, two of his friends and his girlfriend also reportedly tried to join Milan in taking the extreme step, people of the area managed to save the trio.

Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Milan's father Maibam Shyam said, his family neither had any knowledge about the reported love affair of his son and Ana Begum of Keibung Mayai Leikai, who studies together with Milan at Keibung Primary School nor family of the girl informed about the matter to him.

However, Shyam added, it was informed that some youths threatened Milan to break up with Ana Begum on the previous day of Milan's death.

Milan halted that night along with two of his friends to attend an Ipan Thaba ceremony at the house of his elder sister at Thoubal Ningombam, Shyam added.

As the incident happened at late night, nobody knew how and when they went out from the house.

The next morning, Shyam added, his family went to the spot where his son committed suicide as they were informed about the incident.

On reaching there, he said, Milan was found hanging while Milan's friends and Ana Begum were taken away to Police Station.

Sapam Jayenta, who was present at the post mortem examination conducted at JNIMS morgue yesterday said, wind pipe of the deceased was found intake.

He added bruise marks suspected to be made due to hitting with a heavy object were found on Milan's chest and armpit.

His inner lips and chin also bore bruises suspected to be made with rope, Jayenta added.

However, official post mortem report is not yet known.

On the light of these suspected findings, JAC constituted in connection with the death of the teenager decided not to claim Milan's body until the final official post mortem report is spelt out.

The JAC also urged the Government to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
