Imphal, October 10 2026:
Kanglei Lingo, a translation application, was launched today to promote the Manipuri language.
The launch function was held at the office of Imalol Chaokhat Lup (ICHAL), Kangleipat, said a press note issued by Kanglei Lingo Group of Compilation and Communication president Bidyananda Moirangcha.
The function was chaired by ICHAL advisor P Puthiba.
It stated that languages play a key role in reflecting the identity of a country and its communities, besides instilling a sense of Nationalism among the people.
Stating that many Manipuri words, however, are increasingly being replaced by English and other languages, it added that the translation app was developed to preserve the identity of the Manipuri language and promote its use.
The application would be updated in the near future by incorporating more words and correcting any misinterpretations, it said and sought public support in the endeavour to promote Manipuri language.
It, meanwhile, cited English as an example of a language that continues to evolve by incorporating words of foreign origin while preserving its identity.
It further stated that the languages of England, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, China and the United States are rich and that their citizens have a strong sense of Nationalism, illustrating the link between language and National identity.
