PREPAK Interim Council Chairman Aheiba Angom said, "We must carefully examine the armed violence launched against innocent civilians by those who claim to represent their community and project it as their main agenda" .
"We must also understand the security challenges that may shape our future and do everything possible to deter any attempt to allow armed elements to dictate terms to society indefinitely in the name of security", he said.
The PREPAK leader asserted that all indigenous people and communities of Kangleipak should be able to possess the power and vision to write "our own history" .
He said that the people of Kangleipak shouldn't indulge in blame games among themselves when the outside hand shakes the pot.
The enemy is neither the communities living together nor neighbours but the hand that shakes the pot from outside, he said.
The colonial legacy left by the British rulers has been nurtured by India to take root in all institutions, categories and political thinking so that the new puppet Government keeps it alive and uses it in its administration, the Interim Council Chairman's statement read.
The act of communally dividing the people belonging to different communities in Kangleipak by those from outside should be stopped, and such acts should be confronted.
"We must define our own identity.
Together we must take steps to question India's policies and defeat them instead of allowing us to be used as their tools.
We must strive to create a future in which our coming generations have no reason to develop a confrontational mindset toward one another", it said.
It said that the current indigenous population of WeSEA region is roughly 12 to 20 million.
This is only 27% to 47% of WeSEA's total population of 45.7 million.
The WeSEA region, home to diverse indigenous communities, boasts many rare resources found nowhere else.
In order to grab these resources, India has been keeping the indigenous people of this region under extreme suppression.
India wants the land and resources of the indigenous people but not the people, it alleged.
In order to achieve their objective, India's machination to create an internecine war amongst the people is a premeditated strategy-it's genocide.
Once the fratricidal conflict is completed, they would occupy the vacant land and grab all resources; this is their aim, it further alleged.
The current situation of Kangleipak is critical and the people are being captured and drugged.
It is their strategy to establish artificial buffer zones to create enmity among the people and to keep them out of contact.
The prevailing conflict in Kangleipak is deliberately engineered.
"This artificial conflict was orchestrated by India to cause a bloodbath among us, allowing it to seize control of our vacated lands and exploit indigenous resources to share with its allied Nations", read the statement.
It said that one community has been armed to the teeth with sophisticated modern weapons and endless ammunition.
It is simply impossible for a community with limited economic means to afford such exorbitantly expensive weaponry without foreign Nations giving it to them, Aheiba Angom said.
He said that the hills and the valley are indivisible from an administrative and political standpoint.
The two are like the body and soul-completely inseparable.
The historical truth that the people of the hills and the valley have existed as one since time immemorial cannot simply be dismissed, he said.
The forced renunciation of the ancient indigenous faiths of both the hills and the valley, combined with a profit-driven British rule, sowed the seeds of animosity between the two.
Subsequently, the administrative policies that segregated the governance of the hills and the valley served to widen the rift even further, read the statement.
India's artificial Merger Agreement became the root cause that gradually created three major communities which then started moving toward divergent political paths and objectives.
Instead of bringing together all communities, the new administration began destructive policies that divided the communities even further.
The present conflict arose from the suppressive divide and rule foundation laid by India after the merger, it alleged.
Since outsiders have taken control of the reins of power, there seems little prospect of realising the dream of uniting the indigenous people.
Therefore, it is the responsibility of the present generation to build a united strength and identity, understand the aspirations of each community, and respect one another for lasting and peaceful coexistence, the PREPAK Interim Council Chairman concluded .
PREPAK has also shared the extreme grief of the IDPs, whose homes and properties had been reduced to ashes in the violence that broke out on May 3, 2023, and wished them proper resettlement at the earliest.
The PREPAK expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to all Meira Paibis-mothers and sisters, chanuras, who took key roles in all crucial issues of the land.
The outfit has also conveyed revolutionary greetings and offered salute to all comrades, who are languishing behind the bars for taking part in the liberation struggle that would shape the future of the motherland, respected elders who formerly led the struggle for a long time and paved the way for revolution, but now retired from the party due to inevitability, old age and infirmity.
PREPAK has also offered revolutionary salute to those martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the struggle to regain the erstwhile independence and sovereignty of Kangleipak.
On the occasion of its 49th foundation day, PREPAK further conveyed its greetings to the fellow countrymen, leaders and comrades of revolutionary organisations, revolutionary fraternity of WeSEA region, and to all the people of the world who are bearing the colonial yoke.
