In his address, Dr Shyam Sundar Rath emphasized the importance of doping awareness among students pursuing sports-related disciplines.
He stated that sports medicine is an integral part of their syllabus and that future professionals in physical education, sports coaching, sports psychology, and sports nutrition must possess comprehensive knowledge of doping and its ethical implications.
Dr Shyam Sundar Rath remarked that although the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) were established in 1999 and 2005 respectively, instances of doping among athletes existed much earlier.
He noted that understanding this historical background is crucial for appreciating the current framework of anti-doping regulations.
