52 families have resettled, says Imphal East DC

Altogether 52 displaced families of Laikhong, Imphal East have resettled at their homes, according to Imphal East DC L Nivedita.
Responding to queries raised by media persons by the sideline of the inaugural function of a Fire Sub-Station at Sawombung today, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Government has been working to resettle IDPs currently taking shelter in different relief camps in Imphal East
in phases.
Altogether 52 displaced families of Laikhong located within Andro AC resettled at their homes in November under the Government's permanent housing scheme, Nivedita said.

She said that the Government has been working to resettle IDPs by constructing 402 houses in Imphal East district under PMAY special scheme.
Out of these 402 houses, 83 houses will be completed and the respective families will be resettled.
Plans are afoot to resettle the other IDPs in phases, she said.
Saying that the displaced families of Itham and Tumukhong will be resettled shortly, the DC said that steps have been taken up to resettle the displaced villagers of Dolaithabi.
Moreover, steps have been taken to resettle 31 families from Serou and Sugnu, Kakching district who are currently taking shelter in the relief camps opened in Imphal East district.
"As most children of displaced families staying in relief camps are studying in nearby schools and examinations are going on, we are waiting for the end of examinations", the Deputy Commissioner said.
In the meantime, the Government has been working to resettle the displaced families once the examinations are over, provided the conditions are favourable, she said. She appealed to the public to support the resettlement measures taken up by the district administration.
