Imphal, October 08 2026: A 39-year-old man who allegedly committed sexual assault upon a minor on September 30, 2026 somewhere under the jurisdiction of Wangoi police station has been remanded in judicial custody.

Thokchom Sunil Singh (39) s/o late Ibobi of Mayang Imphal Thana Awang Leikai was produced before the Special Court POCSO, Imphal West today after completion of police custody period.

A Special PP of the State submitted that on October 1, 2026, the father of the minor victim lodged a complaint at Wangoi police station stating that on September 30 night when his minor daughter was sleeping in her bedroom, the accused stealthily entered into the bedroom and when the victim woke up, the accused was found sitting on her bed.

Frightened by the unexpected presence of the accused, the minor victim raised an alarm and shouted for help.

Even as the minor shouted for help, the accused forcibly hugged the victim and covered the victim's mouth with his hand, with an apparent intention of preventing the minor from shouting and seeking help.

On hearing the shouting, family members of the victim immediately rushed to the bedroom and caught the accused on the spot, the PP said.

During interrogation in police custody, Thokchom Sunil disclosed that he recorded short videos of the victim in his mobile phone through the window of the victim's room and he intruded into the victim's room at midnight through the window.

However, the victim did not know that he had entered her room because he did not touch her.

At around midnight on September 30, the accused entered the minor victim's room and got onto her bed stealthily in order to make a video of the victim and rape her.

Sunil also took video of the victim's private part and in doing so, the victim woke up and started shouting after which the accused covered the victim's with a blanket.

In the meantime, family members of the victim rushed into the room before the accused could escape.

Moreover, he could not delete the videos he recorded at the time of stalking the victim.

Special PP submitted that a mobile phone used by the accused has been seized.

The accused is a married person and has children.

The Court, after hearing the submission of the Special PP and on perusal of the case record, remanded the accused in judicial custody till October 22 .
