Imphal, December 07: Stating that the forthcoming Assembly elections is of extra significance, MPP leader O Joy said that it would be a tense battle between National parties and the MPP which is one of the oldest regional parties in the country.

Addressing a one day political conference of MPP at Irengbam Kangjeibung, Joy observed that the people of Manipur need to introspect on the condition into which the State had fallen on account of playing sycophants to National parties.

He asserted that MPP has no reservations for the political war to be waged against the National parties.

It is not time to welcome Hindi speaking people in the land where Hindi films and music have been banned, Joy said while asserting that 'Hindi parties' would be abolished if regional party emerge victorious in the elections or let the 'Hindi parties' crush regional parties if they can win.

Saying that all the six hill districts including Churachandpur district are burning, Joy noted that the forthcoming Assembly elections would be very crucial for the destiny of Manipur.

He stated that some elements bent on dismembering Manipur are likely to be elected to the State Assembly and as such MPP has been preparing to meet this challenge.

Joy nevertheless cautioned the people to take right decisions otherwise the State may plunge into a calamity of the worst kind.

He observed that the MPCC president Gaikhangam and veteran Congress leader Rishang Keishing accepted many candidates sponsored by UG elements with the sole objective to disintegrate Manipur.

Joy further questioned AICC chief whether Sonia Gandhi and MPCC leaders would be able to rescind the agreement signed between the United Naga Council and the Congress party in 1972 .

Remarking that the main agenda of the ongoing peace talk between NSCN (IM) and the Government of India is disintegration of Manipur, Joy asked the people to judge themselves whether it is right to hand over the political destiny of Manipur to the Congress party which is currently heading the Union Govt.Declaring that AFSAPA 1958 would be repealed from the State besides paving way for peace talks with the UG groups in case MPP gets elected to power, O Joy remarked that the people of Manipur need to study the reference to UG cadres in Manipur as terrorist by the Union Govt or whether they are fighting to regain the lost sovereignty of Manipur.

Taking part in the conference, MPP president Dr L Chandramani assured that MPP would enforce Inner Line Permit System to check the huge influx of outsiders.

The political conference organised by the MPP Oinam Kendra Committee was attended by thousands of MPP workers.
