Imphal, July 06 2021:
Joint Teachers Forum - an apex body for teachers under Department of Education (S), has drawn the attention of the State Government to issue a 'rectified' Rule of Pay (RoP) order at the earliest.
The forum of teachers, in a press conference held yesterday at CC Hr Secondary School also warned to boycott evaluation works of exams conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) if the State Government fails to provide the rectified order by July 12 .
Speaking to media persons, the convenor of JTF, M Jadumani stated that the State Government had issued an 'erroneous' RoP order on July 11, 2019 .
Following the issuance of the order, the teachers launched agitation on July 19 and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on July 21 seeking rectification, he said.
Acting on it, the State Cabinet had resolved to issue a new RoP on December 19 last year, but the teachers in Primary and Higher Secondary schools are yet to get revised pay even as the employees of other Department are enjoying revised pay structure like 7th Central Pay Commission and College teachers have been assured 7th UGC pay recently, he said.
Like other Government employees, the Primary and Higher Secondary school teachers are actively engaged in State Government's "School Fagathansi Mission'' and Covid duties besides contributing monetary donations to the Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief Fund, he said.
They have been abstaining from any sort of agitation for long, he said while expressing disappointment over leaving the Primary and Higher Secondary school teachers aside at the time of awarding revised pay.
If the State Government does not pay heed to their request for a rectified or revised pay till July 12, the JTF will boycott ongoing mark assessment and evaluation work for exams conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM, he said.
An executive member of JTF, A Indubala Devi also expressed discontent over negligence on the part of the State Government to acknowledge teachers' contributions and deprive them of revised pay in line with the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The forum has thus unanimously resolved to shun assisting exam result committees for mark assessment and evaluation for Class X and Class XII students if their demand for the issuance of a rectified RoP order is not met on or before July 12, she added.
Members of JTF, Primary and Secondary school teachers also took part in the press conference.
