Imphal, May 06: Three cadres of the PREPAK, two UNLF and same number of PULF members have been apprehended by security forces from different places in the last 24 hours.

According to a release issued by SP (IW) L Kailun, Imphal West police commandos acting on credible information arrested one PREPAK activist from Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai at around 8.45 am today.

identified as Laishram Gunamani alias Guru (26) s/o L Rajen of Kongba Laishram Leikai, the arrestee reportedly disclosed of joining the PREPAK organisation in June, 2007 through one M Chalamba alias Nanao alias Ngakra of Kongba Laishram Leikai a senior rank of PREPAK GS faction, the SP added.

further at around 4.30 pm today, a team of Imphal West police commandos nabbed two PREPAK activists hailing from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai from near Manipur University Gate.

they have been identified as Nameirakpam Naobi Singh alias Inaokhoi (38) s/o N Selungba Singh and Tinsubam Bijen Singh (36) s/o T Gopal Singh.

a team of Imphal East district police commandos arrested one UNLF cadre identified as Ngasekpam Sushil Meitei alias Sushil Kumar alias Luppa (19) s/o ng Kunjo Meitei of Takyel Kolom Leikai from his residence on May 5 at around 5.10 am, said to a statement issued by SP (IE) today.

Sushil (Army No 2001/3rd batch) is informed to have disclosed of joining the UNLF in September 2005 through one S/S L/cpl Nanao and trained at Burma.

The second UNLF cadre identified as Huirongbam shanta Singh (35) s/o H Merajao Singh of Khaidem Tural Wangma was nabbed from the same location at around 4.10 pm by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and 32 AR.

Shanta, said to have joined the armed group in April 2007 through one Manglemnganba, was involved in extortion of money from the general public, Government officials, etc and transportation of arms and ammunition.

The PULF member identified as Md Zahir Hussain s/o Md Maniruddin of Yairipok Changamdabi was also apprehended by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and 32 AR from near Irilbung police at around 8 am.

Informing that Zahir Hussain was an active member of the PULF organisation, the statement also added that on Zahir's disclosure another PULF cadre has been picked up from the individual's own residence in Kyamgei Laphupat at around 9 pm.

The second PULF cadre, an active member, is said to be one Abdul Rahim (22) s/o Abdul Rasid.
